Major Resource Projects Works Approvals Applications

  • One new application was received and three applications were not decided by the end the quarter.

Native Vegetation Clearing Permit Permit Applications

  • DER decided 74 per cent (of 101 in total) of native vegetation clearing permit applications within 60 working days.
  • 109 new applications were received and 138 applications were not decided by the end of the quarter.
  • The average time for decisions was 53 working days.

Hectares Granted or Refused

In the quarter:

  • There were 2,771 hectares refused (12 applications) and 1,060 hectares granted (69 applications).

Other development - includes mining not assessed under DMP delegation, basic raw materials, and all other purposes such as fire hazard reduction and fence line clearing.

Contaminated Sites

In the quarter:

  • DER processed 100 per cent (of 33 in total) of Form 1s within 45 calendar days.
  • 51 new Form 1s were received and 31 were not decided by the end of the quarter.

Controlled Waste Licences

  • 104 new controlled waste licence applications were received, with 99 per cent assessed within the 30-day statutory timeframe.

Compliance Program 2016-17

In the quarter:

  • The Annual Compliance Program 2016–17 achieved 38 per cent (479) of its annual target (1245) by the end of
    Quarter 2.
  • The Works Approval Program does not have a specific target, as such the percentage achieved is not measured.

Enforcement Activity

  • DER finalised 99 per cent (of 303 in total) of investigations within 60 working days.
  • There were 780 new matters recorded and 343 ongoing at the end of the quarter.
